Larry provided a calendar with birthdays and anniversaries for descendants of Ransom. I have been migrating this data over to a Google calendar specific to Ransom and co.  July is completed.

If you click on the link over to the right that says “Google Calendar”, you will be taken there. I hope to have the whole year updated by the end of this week.  If you see a typo, please let me know! When you click on the name on a particular date, it will show when the person was born or when the couple was married.

Also, if you would like a special event (parties, weddings, etc) added to the calendar. Feel free to let us know that as well. For that matter we can make an announcement about it with its own post (like this one).

Hey guys:
I was just doing some musing for no particular reason and did some research yielding these interesting results on life spans.  In other words, kiss the wife, hug the kids or grandkids and smell some roses!  Also, remember the reunion at Lutherhoma on August 15-16-17.

Dad (Henry Martens) is doing better.  His lungs are clear; and according to his Indianapolis cardiologist, the pacemaker is doing its job.  He doesn’t have much energy or appetite, but he is again able to walk a few blocks without getting too winded or weary.  However, he is unable to drive due to the possibility of blacking out and the defibrillator having to deliver a shock.  The lack of transportation makes it impossible for them to live at Sperry any longer.

We bought a larger house with a split floor plan so that Mom and Dad can now share a home with us.  It is one of three houses on a small “lake” and has a large sunroom facing the lake.  Relocating has been an emotional experience for them since they loved living close to friends and family and being a part of Danny and Janice Switzer’s church in Sand Springs.  Please pray for them as they adjust to this season of their lives.

Last month we’ve traveled to Georgia for Justin and Ashley Jury’s beautiful wedding on June 7th.  We then traveled to Sperry to pack up Mom and Dad’s house.  Their house will stay in the Jones family line since Dustin Martin (Retha Thulin Martin’s son) is purchasing their home.  Thanks to Meredith’s fine driving, their belongings made it safely to Indianapolis in the rented 26’ Penske truck.  Sondra assisted us (while Allison entertained Great Grandma and Grandpa), and we’ve set up housekeeping for them in the new house.  Our old house hasn’t sold yet, so we’ll probably take our time moving so as not to leave the old house empty.  So… please pray for the quick sale of our house also.

Please make a note of the new address and phone number for Henry and Rachel Martens AND Meredith and Ruth Rogers:

            247 Huddleston Dr S
            Indianapolis, IN  46217

Our phone number will remain (317) 865-7447.  This number has been transferred to the new house already, so you can reach Mom and Dad at this number.  Meredith’s cell phone is (317) 373-1526, and Ruth’s cell phone is (317) 525-7024.  We can all be reached via email at:  merog@sbcglobal.net.  We are introducing them to the wonders of the internet and email.  It would give Mom and Dad great pleasure to hear from each of you.  If you have any pictures to send, that might also help the transition!

Love and prayers,

Ruth Rogers

As you can see (those of you who actually visit this site from time to time…) the website has a new look.  Many thanks to Randall who spent a lot of time migrating the posts from the old website to the new one as well as creating the new look.  Those of you who had registered at the old site, in the next few days (or weeks) expect an e-mail with your user name and password to the site.  This will allow you to submit your own articles directly to the site, or comment on stories and articles that others have submitted.   If you are the author of a post, you also have the ability to edit the posts which you have written.

At this time, Brad and Randall are the “admins” of the site, but we would be happy to have more people to assist and contribute, you need only to ask.  Hopefully, everyone will find the new site much more user friendly and easier to use.

This site can be used as much or as little as people wish, I personally go for weeks without looking at it, but this could give us the ability to keep in touch with each other if people start using it.
